Body Butters and Liniments

People often ask why a bodybutter/Liniment?

A moisturiser contains water, while a body butter is generally water-free.

  • Moisturiser: adds water to the outer layers of the skin and contains oils/emollients to soften it and reduce moisture loss. Because it contains water, it also requires a preservative.
  • Body butter: is made primarily from oils and butters. It doesn’t directly add water to the skin; instead, it softens the skin and forms a barrier that helps prevent existing moisture from escaping.
  • Bodybutter: Because it contains no water, prevervative requirements are minimised

In simple terms: a moisturiser hydrates and seals, while a body butter mainly softens and seals.

Liniments are body butters with essential oils added.  Lip Balms and the stick deodorants are also included here as they contain no water.  All these products contain Organic Bee's wax sourced direct from the apiary in the pristine leatherwood forests of Tasmania.
